dear world,
Recently, I watched All the Bright Places where a quotation from Virgina Wolf resurfaced. “If you do not tell the truth about yourself you cannot tell it about other people.” I couldn’t quite place a definite finger on why this managed to stick with me even after delving into the complex messaging of the movie but I assumed it is because we all have a story to unpack and navigate yet we choose to find ourselves through others around us. It truly is a beautiful concept, that we are mosaics made from others but I believe that there is something inherent to each of us that contributes to the way we experience the world and I want to find something real about myself to share with others. I am an 18 year old girl from South Africa who enjoys writing and reading yet I have not managed to consolidate all of my ideas onto a metaphorical page. I have half developed ideas and for the most part, I don’t feel particularly confident sharing my ideas out loud. If you can find something about my stories that you agree, or vehemently disagree with that you did not think you would have an opinion about then I have done my job. You have discovered something real about you. Enjoy and maybe stick around for a bit!
